# Read an agent setup

Understand the reviewed settings, machine and seat behind an agent start.

An agent's identity, settings and execution are separate records. Inspect the settings and the machine before pressing Start. A saved settings change applies to a later start, not to a session already running.

## Inspect the agent file

The agent interface provides Overview, Settings, Access, Limits and goals, Sessions, Credentials and Record. Lifecycle state says whether an identity is active, suspended or retired; runtime state says whether it is executing.

## Read the settings

1. Confirm the program and installed copy on the selected computer.
2. Read the model, working folder, permission mode and explicit rules.
3. Check connected MCP servers, required plugins and supplied skills.
4. Confirm which profile version is reviewed and which machine's runner will execute it.
5. Read Access separately. Program permissions do not grant product access in Lys.

## After a start

Use the returned session and recorded transport to follow the run. A seat's name refers to its standing configuration. The session identifier refers to that particular execution.
