# Command line

Inspect the installed Cambium server and its sibling MCP executable.

The Cambium executable serves the application and launches its sibling MCP server. Maintenance commands operate on a stopped store.

## Inspect and check

Cambium — messaging, projects and voice, one binary.

```text
cambium [OPTIONS] [COMMAND]
```

Print the version and source commit of the executable.

```text
cambium --version
```

Read the configuration and report the boot plan without opening the store.

```text
cambium --check --config <PATH>
```

- `--config <PATH>`: An explicit TOML configuration file. If omitted, the platform data directory supplies its location.

Check the installed MCP executable, fonts and native canvas without signing in.

```text
cambium mcp --check
```

## Serve people and agents

Boot the server and serve until SIGINT or SIGTERM

```text
cambium serve [OPTIONS]
```

Start the MCP server beside the installed Cambium executable.

```text
CAMBIUM_MCP_SEAT=<absolute seat file> cambium mcp
```

- `CAMBIUM_MCP_SEAT`: Absolute path to the private seat file. Keep its contents out of launcher configuration and logs.

Serving is a foreground operation ended by an operating-system signal.

## Maintain a stopped installation

Copy a STOPPED store, its node and its keys into `<DIR>/<utc-stamp>/`.

```text
cambium backup [OPTIONS] --to <DIR>
```

- `--to <DIR>`: Directory the stamped snapshot is created under.

Settle every diverged connection promotion plan of a STOPPED store to one consistent state, and print one line per plan settled.

```text
cambium settle-promotions [OPTIONS]
```

Switch a STOPPED server's sign-in issuer to its link-only target.

```text
cambium cutover [OPTIONS]
```

These are deliberate maintenance operations. Read their installed help and the named preconditions before planning one.
